My sims appear to have lost the ability to go to secret FT lots.
I took out all CC, gave the sim enough hobby enthusiasm to get hobby lot membership and got him doing hobby type stuff. Soon enough he had two hobby lot membership cards.
Tried to walk to the secret lot. No can do. Tried to call a taxi and go that way. Not happening. Tried to drive there. Again, no dice.
I have all EPs and SPs and I have empty templates for all EPs except BV destinations. NPCs are spawning as needed. Mr Humble, a wolf, 2 secret hobby lot leaders, garden club leader and the newspaper kid spawned as needed - I now have 7 character files in the Characters folder for that hood. I deleted all cache files as well as the Thumbnails folder for good measure.
I haven't sent a sim to a secret hobby lot in absolute ages but it used to work. Am I missing something? Is there some sooper sekrit way of getting there? Surely the sim is just supposed to walk, taxi or drive there? Last time I sent a sim to a secret hobby lot was prior to installing Mansions and Gardens. Could someone please confirm that secret hobby lots still work with all EPs + M&G? I have this bad feeling that I'm going to have to re-install the whole kit and caboodle...

'Tis the season, and one of my traditions is to bring a grab bag to every party I'm invited to.
I weed through my music and movie collections and sort out the titles I don't want anymore. Such as the zombie movie I got last summer because I liked the cover, but I won't watch again. Or the four copies of Howard Stern's Private Parts soundtracks someone thought I needed. Or the duplicate copies I had, because my friends know I like christmas so three of them got me Elf one year, and I've had dozens of It's A Wonderful Life and Charlie Brown Christmas, etc.
Then I wrap each one in last year's leftover paper, or dollar store cheap-o paper. Once at the party, I carry around my big shopping bag and ask each guest to take one (this is an especially great icebreaker at those parties where I don't know anyone but the host).
Some people get something they like, some people wonder why the heck I had that title in the first place, either way, everyone ends up laughing, trading, and again, icebreaking. If any guest is stumped for a conversation starter, they can ask, "what'd you get??"
Everyone loves a free gift, and I de-clutter my house. Win-win!

Wow, last time was a long time ago.
Anyway, I got my laptop back and finally edited all the pictures,
so here is a shiny new update for you all to enjoy!
Andandandand, apparently when my cord blew up it also shorted out part of my keyboard.
I'm using a virtual one to fill in the holes, but if I miss some,
please tell me and just go with it for now.

(In which boring makes an appearance)
(1.1) (2.1 && 2.2) (2.3)
I want one regardless if it is good enough for zombie survival or not. However, I still want to hear what people think of its theoretical capabilities for said survival.

Just watched...Merlin 2x09, Merlin 2x10, The Real Merlin and Arthur, Smokin' Aces, The Nines, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Bottle Shock.
Good god, ya'll.
Naturally it's 3 AM. I gotta say Smokin' Aces was nothing like I expected (but awesome). Plan 9 was exactly what I expected. Bottle Shock...well, the faults it had were easily glossed over by the fact that CPine looks like and dresses as a blond "Condor" Joe Asakura from Gatchaman, probably my all time favorite anime character.
(This probably means nothing to most of you but for me it was like some uncanny wet dream. Hopefully the 2010 Gatchaman film will introduce my love to the entire world, although Joe will no longer dress out of the seventies. Hey, there is a trailer out, now! I have both hopes and concerns, like any fan.)
The Nines is an excellent film, but it was the first time I watched it, too. Merlin still stubbornly refuses to progress...and Colin and Bradley are almost incapable of success when separated from handlers, apparently.

Title: Ethan Church: Confrontation (Chapter 9)
Author:
dryler
Main Pairing: Edward/Bella
Rating: NC-17 overall
Summary: After receiving an invitation to write the biography of the severely reclusive author Ethan Church, Bella develops a reluctant obsession with his novels and by extension him. When she accepts his offer, the old, dying man she’s presented with and the young, too perfect man she comes across on the nearly empty estate have her convinced she’s missing some very important parts of the story.
A/N: WIP, AU. Beta'd by Miss Poison (Twilighted) and Feisty Y. Beden (FFn and Ravelry). Part of this story (going to meet a reclusive author to write their biography) was inspired by The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
Disclaimer: I don't own Twilight or The Thirteenth Tale. No copyright infringement is intended.

Confrontation
So! I'm graduating on tuesday. :)
This is a weird feeling. I mean, it's not as though I haven't been a graduate, and entitled to graduate, for four months now. And working as a graduate, I might add. But Tuesday is the ceremony with the funny hats and robes and that. And, pleasant surprise; I submitted my order for my academic dress hire and got a phone call the next day saying that I got my hire for free, because I worked for the company. Very nice. :)
(I have a whine to have about my family being crap about actually celebrating my graduation, including people being in other states and countries, when I was required with no ifs, ands or buts to attend my sister's grad, but let's face it: it's boring when I complain.)
I also have now moved and am quite content in my new domicile. Except B, you now owe me a washup. And I had some issues with the washing machine yesterday. Other than that, all good. Getting to work is a bit of a fiddle (and annoyingly expensive, given I'm still using a student rate and travelling all of four kilometres), but I have a bike, and as soon as I obtain a helmet (and a new set of keys to work, as mine were lost somewhere in the house the day before I moved [and didn't that ruin my life]), I'm going to start riding into work in the morning. Pleasantly, there's a shower in the office, so I can ride in, shower, change and eat breakfast in the office.
Other things about work: they're hoping to move me to spend more time writing reports and less time in the field. Which is AWESOME, because when I signed up, I thought that might take a couple of years. I guess the english degree convinced them... that, and there just aren't enough people in the office to handle everything that needs to happen for field work to be undertaken successfully. And I have quite the series of whines about that, including a number of things going wrong (not drastically wrong, but wrong enough that I feel responsible and bad, even if no one's SAYING that) because no one stopped and told me the right procedure, or exactly what was needed, or some other stupid thing. When these things happen, I hate my job. In fact I have hated my job most of this week. I am really hoping it's going to get better this week, and I have hope that it will (after tomorrow, which is likely to be pretty epic. Ah, well.)
Still and all, I have a plan! I am going to start a Masters in the middle of next year - either in sustainability, or environmental management (which ends up very much the same, it just depends which uni and which course I choose). At which point, if I am not happier in my job (and haven't left sooner, which is also a possibility), I have a really easy out to leave and not come back. Also, if I chose to take it full time, I am pretty sure I'd be entitled to some form of government assistance. Which would be nice. And if I didn't, well, I could tell work I was, leave them, and find a part time job.
I kind of hate my job sometimes, is what I'm saying. And can do limited things to fix that, and can't really legitimately leave it in a hurry. Particularly given the economic crisis; I think graduates who leave their first job less than six months after starting aren't that appealing to certain employers. Also, in this situation, who exactly does one use as a reference? Using your current employer as a reference for your new employer would be, er, awkward at best.
But I'm not going to get 'stuck' in this job, either it gets better or I find another. I'm saying that now. And mostly my job is okay, it has seriously crap elements, but don't all? (Um, this is the impression I get. Everyone hates their job, right? .... how much hate is an acceptable level of hate, anyway?)
Anyway, if I took a masters, I'd be more appealing to certain types of employers, and close to my desired field. So there's that plan towards the future.
Also: Romi bought me The Joy of Vegan Baking, and it's so pretty to look at, and I made a cake from it, and awesomesauce. I wish I had more time to bake/cook, but it's great to work with. I am moving very steadily into this vegetarian thing, in fact I just made vegetarian bolognese sauce... I'll let you know how that went. ;)
And in case I don't tell you often enough (I don't tell you often enough), I have a lot of affection for all of you. A lot. You know that, right?

Late Night Meeting. With
thekentboy, and
chloeas.
Oliver had waited until Chloe had fallen asleep that night to don his gear once more and head to the roof of the Watchtower. From there, he fired an anchor line to a building across the street and glided over with ease.
He drew in a breath and let it out slowly, his body already tense. In a voice only slightly louder than talking-volume, he said, "All right, Blur. We need to talk."
And then he waited.

For those of you, who got to read these fics, when I first posted them on my original LJ profile. I'm grateful for your reviews and do appreciate them. I pulled them originally because I was flat out frustrated with the show itself and I'm not remotely pleased with how they've torn some of my favorite characters down. Ollie and Chloe both deserve better treatment than their getting on the show and frankly, I'm put out with it. But my point is this, thanks to my short conversation with Gen, I plan on continuing this said universe on an almost daily or every other two day basis. Be in short scenes between the characters and the loving relationship, that Chloe and Oliver share with one another after she's bailed him from the fire ala "Ring Match" or having them both out in the middle of the field dealing with some extreme danger and/or threats (ok, that was a half spoiler.)
Either way, for those who enjoyed my previous two fics involving my AU Season 9 universe expect more within the coming days.
For now, here are the first two intro stories into that said world:
