This is probably one of those times where my anger is going to come out inappropriately but I don't care.
The whole cut tag thing? Yeah, for spoilers it's pretty much necessary, or if there are 100 pictures. But if you're posting ONE picture or your post is long and rambly do I think you need to cut it? Only if you feel like YOU need to do so. Because Jesus H Christ, is it really that difficult for people to SCROLL down a little more? It's PUSHING A BUTTON. No one is asking you to do ROCKET SCIENCE.
"It's clogging up my friend's list" blah blah. You know what? If you're too lazy to scroll down then what the hell are you doing using a computer in the first place? But whatever. Of all things in the world people choosing to bitch because someone doesn't cut tag every damn thing they post? That's pretty fucking petty if you ask me.
And BTW, I'm on dialup. Pictures take ages to load up for me but you STILL DON'T HEAR ME BEING BITCHY MCNASTY WITH PEOPLE for posting!!
*tears out hair*
ETA: This is not directed at anyone who has NICELY asked someone to put something behind a cut, but rather the WANKERS who go about it rudely and insult people in the process.

Eight Teens Charged in Videotaped Attack
I caught part of this on the Today show when I woke up this morning and I was horrified.
The victim lost sight in her left eye and hearing in her left ear the beating was so severe. What the hell is wrong with people?

This was sent to me by my uncle's girlfriend via an email forward:
Ken Blackwell - Columnist for the New York Sun
It's an amazing time to be alive in America. We're in a year of firsts in this presidential election: the first viable woman candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a candidate who is the first frontrunning freedom fighter over 70. The next president of America will be a first.
We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender.
Now that Barack Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his politics.

Ever have one of those days where everyone around you pisses you off? Just by, you know, being around? Oy. PMS sucks. I'm at work and everyone here is seriously getting on my nerves except ONE person. And I've got like, mountains of paperwork to do. Is it Saturday yet??

I've been in a pissy mood all day and I have no idea why. I've been snapping at my parents every time they talk to me, and I chewed my dad out when I had to drive 25 miles to give him his extra truck keys after he locked his main ones in the truck at Menards.
I've been exhausted since Friday night, which I guess could be the Xanax I took but it was only .5 mgs and I only took it ONCE. I slept til 9 yesterday then took a three hour nap yesterday afternoon, slept nine hours last night and took a two hour nap today. I'm still beat.
Is some planet in retrograde or what?

On a LJ community that I belong to (an anti-rape one), someone posted a link to a pedophile's website, expressing her outrage on his talk of "how to have sex with a child" where it's fun and safe for all involved, even if the child is NINE years old. NINE YEARS OLD? What the fuck? I'm so pissed right now I can't see straight. I'm going to write this sick fuck an email when I calm down, and then I'm going to find out how to report his sick fucking ass to authorities.

Question.
Would you force a diabetic to eat a bunch of sugar even though you know it will send them into diabetic shock?
Of course not.
So why would you force someone with panic disorder and agoraphobia into a situation you -know- will cause them a panic attack?
Fuck you. I won't be there.
My mental health is more important than a stupid 10 point assignment.

AIM, you suck ass! May you die horridly by the burning flames of a thousand fiery suns, you bitch!
1. Kobe Bryant. My mom and I have a very different opinion on this bit of news. For those of you who haven't heard, Kobe Bryant, a basketball player for the L.A. Lakers, has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Colorado. My mom's immediate response was "there are a lot of gold-digging women out there." I frowned at her and said, "there are a lot of men who get away with rape, too." She told me I was assuming that the guy was guilty, and I pointed out she was assuming the victim was lying. Of course then she said "innocent until proven guilty."
Well, here's the problem with that: I'm not a defense attorney. I'm not on the jury. I'm also not a cop, or some power-hungry media person out to slander anyone. I am however, a volunteer advocate for victims of sexual assault/sexual abuse. Because of that, I'm -always- on the victim's side, whether I know the person or not. I believe the victim no matter what. That's just who I am.
2. Harry Potter. I've been hearing for the past like, 2 years alternating things about these books. There's the people who love them, find them incredibly entertaining and think they're great. Then there are the people who think that they are evil and lead children toward being evil because the stories are about wizards and witches. Generally the people who think this are the right-wing fundamentalist Christians. If any group of people frighten me, it is these people. Sorry if this offends anyone.
On with my point.
Obviously anyone who thinks that these books are -harmful- in any way have not actually READ the books, which I find very annoying. Why the hell would you make a statement without having any evidence or fact on which to base your opinion? It just makes you look like an idiot. Sorry, these books are good fantastical fun, plain and simple. People can't really fly around on broomsticks, or tele-transport themselves through a fire in their fireplace, and I'm pretty sure that owls don't deliver anyone's mail. It's called -fiction-. Get. Over. It.
3. People who think Wicca is an evil, devil-worshipping religion clearly know nothing about that, either. People who practice Wicca don't even -believe- in a devil. It's one of the calmest, most peaceful religions I've ever studied, and yes, I incorporate some of the practices and theories into my religious path, so I do know quite a bit about it.
4. This isn't a rant, it's more of a short, amusing tale. So I was at work today and I got a phone call from a guy named Mark Greene. As in like, Dr. Mark Greene from ER. I had the urge to exclaim, "You're alive!" but didn't. :)
Anyway. I'm done ranting for the moment. Peace out.

So I only have four more days of classes left. In the next week I have to write two boring history papers and take two tests (neither of which I'm particularly worried about). And some busy work in two other classes. Busy work because it's not EVER going to be useful to me at any point in my actual life.
Oh, well. So I've finished the next part of 'In a New York Minute.' I have yet to type it up and I'm not sure I'm happy with it either. I'm going to give it another day or so and see. It's a very pivotal part and I need it to be perfect.
I've come to the conclusion that I really don't like being social. At all. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I go out to lunch after class with this "friend" of mine from sociology. And granted, I'm generally always the listener in conversations that people have with me, so when I want to talk, it throws people off. But it's -really- annoying when you finally do start to talk and the other person starts looking around the room and waving at random people, not paying any attention to what you're saying whatsoever.
And even more annoying when they do finally listen and then they belittle what you have to say. So I told this "friend" that I was a little upset with the cliffhanger on TW Monday night, and she rolled her eyes and said, "You're SO obsessed. That's NOT cool." I was like, yeah, well it's better than real life. And then a second later she goes, "But it's -fake-!"
Now generally I'd just be like, whatever but yesterday it pissed me off because I -always- listen to whatever the hell she wants to talk about and I resented her remarks and actions. So I said, "Yeah, well, I'm a -fiction- writer. I LIKE fiction. That's why I write and read and watch tv. It's who I am." And I wasn't really all that pleasant when I said it. And she got very quiet and didn't say anything more about it. In fact, we barely spoke at lunch after that. Whatever. I don't care. I only have one more day I'll be going to lunch with her cause I'm inviting my cousin out to lunch next Tuesday and that's my last day of sociology class.
And, I'm looking to make a reading list for the summer. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry. I don't care what it is, just as long as it's interesting. So if anyone has any suggestions for good books, I'd love to hear them. :D

The American "justice" system sucks. I mean, REALLY fucking sucks.
A friend of mine was raped three weeks ago, by a guy she met off the internet. He gave her a fake name online so that when he took off, she would be unable to give the police his real name. The bastard fell asleep afterward, and she called the police. The jag-off was arrested and thrown in jail. Now the state's apparently decided they don't have enough evidence to try and get a trial going, so they let the bastard go.
Yep, let him go so he can do it again. He's probably done it before and gotten by with it. Let's HELP him, for God fucking sakes.
Just like that serial killer in Texas that admitted to murdering 13 women and is set to be released in 2006 because of some stupid drafting error in his plea bargain. Yeah, by all means, because someone typed a document wrong or some stupid thing like that, let's let a known KILLER go free because otherwise it violates his fucking civil rights.
You murdered someone, ASSHOLE. You shouldn't HAVE any civil rights.
This country is seriously fucked up sometimes.
