Am I the only person left on the planet who didn't know Michael Welch was going to be in Twilight!?

In May of 2005, CBS announced its decision to cancel Joan of Arcadia, a series about a girl who regularly had conversations with God. It was a heart-warming, sometimes heart-wrenching show that was watched steadily by 10 million Nielson viewers in its first season and 8 in it sophomore season.

I loved the show--enough to buy the domain 'Savejoanofarcadia.com'. It's since been closed down because after two years of being online, it was just a money-drainer. But people fought very hard to revive the show for a third season. I still occasionally get emails from people in other countries wondering if we managed to save the show (we didn't). I was interviewed on a Texas radio show, by an AP reporter, and countless other people who ran online blogs, etc.

Flash forward to now. Not quite a week ago, CBS announced its decision to axe Jericho--for the second time. That's right. It was cancelled after its first season, but fans sent in over 40,000 pounds of nuts to CBS, who decided to give it a second, albeit very shortened season of seven episodes. CBS is standing pretty firm in its decision this time around. Though approximately 6 million fans were tuning in regularly on Tuesday nights (the network pitted it against American Idol and Dancing with the Stars), that's just not enough for CBS.

Jericho's creator, Carol Barbee, was on Shaun's radio show tonight. Honestly, I don't know who Shaun is, but apparently he talks about Jericho and has interviewed like, everyone involved with the show, which is awesome. I can't listen, cause I'm on dialup. *le sigh*

For me this says a couple things. Sci-Fi IS listening. They are apparently having budget talks?? That is a really good sign.

We ALL need to stop posting at CBS (I can't do much anyway, their stupid site freezes my computer) and migrate to the Jericho Sci-Fi boards. We need to hit them with letters (I sent out three today, my friend Jamie wrote one, and my parents are sending one tomorrow), postcards and lots of positive things about Jericho. Also, be sure and tune into the reruns on Friday nights! This is important! From what I've heard, the reruns alone are pulling in about 1 million viewers (this is not Nielson ratings, btw...apparently cable has a way to track when you're watching something?? I'm not clear how that works). One million is a LOT for reruns. Imagine what NEW episodes would bring.

AND DID I MENTION THAT THE CAST WILL STILL BE ON BOARD WITH THIS SHOW IF IT CONTINUES?

Oh. And another thing. If I have time and energy, expect a blog from me tomorrow on the reasons why this fight is MUCH different from the fight for Joan of Arcadia. Cause truly, there are a LOT.

I can't believe I'm engaging in this activity AGAIN, but I'm about to go into full-on battlegear for the fate of Jericho. Not in the same capacity as I did with Joan of Arcadia a few years ago (my God, was it really that long ago? O.o), but I'm going to get heavily involved.

My LJ will likely have a LOT of save Jericho stuff until something is officially official one way or another.

No, I don't think CBS will bring it back again. But I do think it's possible another network may pick it up.

So, here's that whole part where I tell you...if you don't wanna see a zillion entries about Jericho and saving the show, you should probably either filter me or defriend me until it's over.

I will not take offense.

It's weird. As much time as I've spent writing fanfics in the past several years...I hardly ever dip back into previous fandoms I was in. But lately my muse has been poking me and telling me to write Joanith fanfic and I've been obeying like a good little writer.

What I'm finding curious is the fact that it seems to be coming out as expository writing rather than actual stories with dialogue and that bothers me a bit. *scratches head* I think maybe it's because Joan and Judith had so many more personal stories to tell?

At any rate, I'm finding it a bit odd and I'm not sure I like it. Hmm.

Okay guys, my friend snowflakespeech and I are starting a new LJ Joan RP. So Supernatural and Smallville have both been renewed, so that's 3/3 this year. All my shows are coming back, thankfully. But...today is the one anniversary of the cancelation of Joan and I'm sad. *sigh* I also didn't sleep well last night and woke up much too early worried about getting my Virtual Summer Season fic done on time tonight, and feeling sad about Joan and the fact that Alias is almost over for good.

I have the TV blues, peeps. Blah.

CBS announced their fall line-up, and even though I watch NOTHING on that channel, I decided to check it out just because. Jason Ritter (Kevin Girardi, Joan of Arcadia) is starring in one of the new comedies and...

It actually sounds really good and like something I'd like and...Sprague is in it. Damn. I don't wanna trust CBS again. I don't even think I could, but dammit...

Now let me admit something here...I've never, to my recollection, ever dreamt about Alias before. Dreams are what generally eggs me into becoming a part of a fandom. I find it odd and a bit depressing that now I dream about it as there are only what...three more episodes left? I'm not about to hop into a fandom where the show's ending. That's just not healthy for me.

I'm actually pretty happy in the Smallville fandom...you never really know when you get into a show and start writing fic how you'll be received by the other fans, but everyone's been so nice and welcoming and I feel right at home here.

That being said, there are days where I intensely miss previous fandoms I've been in: Roswell, Angel, Third Watch...and most of all right now...Joan of Arcadia.

I know it's because of the approaching date, but yesterday I sat in front of my computer and just stared blankly at the screen for hours as writer's block seized me in my current SV fic...because all I could think about was how much I miss Joan and Grace and Judith and Luke and Adam and...well, you get the idea. *sigh*

In some tiny and stupid self-centric way I feel like it's my fault that the show didn't get revived because if I had just done more with the campaign, then maybe another network would've picked it up. I know rationally that's retarded because I SO don't have that much control over the universe, but there's still that lingering feeling that I just can't get rid of.

If Smallville, God forbid, gets canceled, I'm done. No more fandom anything for me. My little fandom heart can't take it anymore.

I uh...wrote a fic. A Joan of Arcadia fic. All by myself. In like...fifteen minutes. It had been twirling in my mind for..like, weeks and I finally gave in and wrote it. So...here it is.
