February 20, 2012: Due to annoying Russian spambots, I've disabled commenting on my LJ for the time being to non-friends. So if you want to friend me, please send me a message and let me know you're actually a real person. Heh. Thanks.
What you should know before friending me. ( Follow me down the rabbit hole.Collapse )
So I haven't been here in forever. And honestly I don't think I can come back here. It sounds dramatic to say this, but I met Robyn through this site and being here without her just...hurts. Still.
I met a lot of awesome people through Livejournal, and I haven't been around in ages and I don't even know who IS still around. But for those of you who are, or who are kind of, or who are interested in reconnecting with me, I've moved over to Insanejournal. I do mostly RP over there, but I've decided to try journaling there, as well.
There aren't as many layout options as there are (or were, I don't really know anymore) here, but you do get 100 free icons for every account. So if you need a code because you want to join, give me a shout and I'll help you out with one.
I'm galaxyofmuses over there -- though the name will be changing as soon as I can settle on one that feels right.
So if you want to chat with me or read my thoughts, etc, go here
. :) Hope you're all well!
Tomorrow is Robyn's birthday.
She would have been twenty-five.
I feel the need to do something to mark the occasion even though she's not here, but I have no ideas. Maybe you guys do. Do you have any songs that make you think of her...? I'd like to make a playlist.
I walked a mile yesterday on the treadmill in 24 minutes. Not great time-wise but I'll get there. I have to keep reminding myself that this is only week 3 and my body is just not ready for more advanced stuff yet. I had been walking/lifting weights six days a week and resting on Sundays but I had to take a day off from both today because I was SO sore. So I got up and did 25 minutes of yoga instead.
I'm on this site called Fitocracy, which is really awesome and you can get really helpful advice and encouragement. Are any of you also on there? If so, come friend me at https://www.fitocracy.com/profile/adwilliams03/
Very sad about the bombing yesterday, but trying not to focus as much on it today as I did yesterday. I think I was shaking for about five hours. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the victims and their loved ones.
So I'm not around here a lot. I'm not planning to leave the site or anything. I'm just around here less. But I am around Twitter a lot more than here, so if you want to chat with me, feel free to follow me. I'm at @WalkinDeadAngie :D
I almost didn't do this, this year. Heh.
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.( My list under here.Collapse )
If you need my address, let me know.
Also, if you want to exchange cards with me, drop me a line here, and tell me! :)
So I'm part of an online scavenger hunt called GISHWHES, along with fourteen other people on my team. Just by going here
and pledging to do ONE random act of kindness before 2012 is over, you'll help me in this venture! My email address (which you'll need to complete the pledge): email@example.com
Also? If you leave me a comment saying you pledged, I'll throw all of your names into a hat and draw a winner and three people will win a prize of some kind. Could be a mixed CD, could be jewelry I've made, could be something else.
So help me, maybe? :)
So I have a training I'm presenting next week (on Wednesday). I usually give out prizes during this training, but this time I want to do something a little different. I'm wanting to put together small de-stress kits for the seven people taking the training. Sort of along the lines of this
. But while it's cute, I'm wanting to put together something a little more useful and more creative.
So if someone was going to give YOU a de-stress kit, what would you hope was in it?

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education rights. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).
During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but theyd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.
Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

you can crosspost this entry in your own journal or community by using the repost
I haven't really been around LJ much these days. It feels like a lot of people have kind of drifted away from it for one reason or another. I'm kind of disgusted with a lot of the things ole El Jay has done over the years, and frankly since Robyn died, I haven't really wanted to be here much. Maybe that's silly, I don't know.
But I have been doing some RP stuff over on Insane Journal lately. For those who don't know it, IJ gives 100 icons free with every free account, which makes my RP life much easier because I don't have to continuously renew and pay out money for icons. I'm considering moving my RL stuff that way, as well. We'll see.
How is everyone?

at CISPA is the new SOPA
Here's their next move: The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, or CISPA, would obliterate any semblance of online privacy in the United States.
And CISPA would provide a victory for content owners who were shell-shocked by the unprecedented outpouring of activism in opposition to SOPA and Internet censorship.
The House of Representatives is planning to take up CISPA later this month. Click here to ask your lawmakers to oppose it.
SOPA was pushed as a remedy to the supposed economic threat of online piracy -- but economic fear-mongering didn't quite do the trick.
So those concerned about copyright are engaging in sleight of hand, appending their legislation to a bill that most Americans will assume is about keeping them safe from bad guys.
This so-called cyber security bill aims to prevent theft of "government information" and "intellectual property" and could let ISPs block your access to websites -- or the whole Internet.
Don't let them push this back-door SOPA. Click here to demand that your lawmakers oppose CISPA.
CISPA also encourages companies to share information about you with the government and other corporations.
That data could then be used for just about anything -- from prosecuting crimes to ad placements.
And perhaps worst of all, CISPA supercedes all other online privacy protections. Please click here to urge your lawmakers to oppose CISPA when it comes up for a vote this month.
Thanks for fighting for the Internet.
So back in December, I'd talked about sending Robyn's mom a package, but she had told me she wasn't celebrating Christmas. So I've held off to respect that decision. fickery
suggested sending a "comfort package." I really do like that idea, and I've decided to do this at the six month mark--which is May 8. So I'm back to gathering ideas. So far I have the following to include: a book of comforting poetry, some prayer beads that I made, an angel ornament that says "hope" on it (extra appropriate since her other daughter's name IS Hope).
A couple of people mentioned that they would like to add things to this package, so let me know if you're still interested in doing that. If not, that's okay. Or even if you just want to email a note or letter or card to me, I can print that out and include it in the package. Ideally, I would like to have everything together and ready to go by April 25th or so. Also, if you have friends on your flist who were friends with Robyn, or who may want to include something, feel free to repost this and have them get in touch with me.
If you have ideas of stuff I could add to the package, that would be greatly appreciated to, as my brain is on overload. So hit me up in the comments!

ACTA in a Nutshell –
What is ACTA? ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.
Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”
What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

I'm working on a memorial website for Robyn. I'd really like some feedback, and if you all who knew her would leave messages and things, or upload photos that you might have of her that aren't already up there, that'd be awesome. I haven't given her family the link yet, because it's not as "complete" as I'd like it to be (though I suspect it'll never truly be complete). But I'm hoping to do that very soon.
Anyway, here it is: Smile Til the End.
