Are they really deleting comments from LJ users who've deleted their LJs? I read this in the LJ thread and now I'm freaking out. So far, I still see Robyn's comments on my entries. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?
Does anyone on my flist have a subscription to USA Today, by chance?
Robyn's sister just texted to let me know that there was a short article on Robyn in the 11/15/11 edition. I'd really like to see it. I think it's about the scholarship being set up in her name. A friend of hers showed it to Hope.
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV"). The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Surf around your friends list (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes one person's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.( Wishlist under here.Collapse )

A huge thank you goes out to guineapigpeanut for sharing Lily's story
Lily got to see a vet today and has had an exam, bloodwork and x-rays. She's been vaccinated and tested negative for FLV. All good things.
Despite her injured leg, she is a healthy and incredibly friendly kitten. My sister said the vet had a hard time hearing her heartbeat because she was purring so loudly.
Now, here's the crazy part.
If you get angry easily, you better sit down for this.
The problem with her leg?
She was shot. Her tiny leg is full of shrapnel from the elbow joint down. It's likely she'll have to have it amputated.
I have no words. A kitten. SHOT.
She will have a consultation with an orthopedic surgeons soon to see what, if anything, can be done for her leg. The current estimate for surgery is $1500. That is just the surgery and does not include today's exam and tests or having her spayed, which sounds like it will have to be after her leg has healed.
In defiance of the completely heartless idiot did this to her, we will do our best to put this right. My sister and her husband are keeping Lily. She has a good home, now we just need to help her get the care she needs. I have pledged to help my sister and her hubby in any way I can so we can help Lily get better and have a healthier, happier life. Altogether, her fees look to be in the $2000 range. She is young, and other than her injury, she is healthy, and she is undeniably a people cat and is already responding well to the love and care she's receiving.
To every single person that has already donated to help Lily, I thank you and my sister sends her thanks
. I can't even begin to express in words how much your generosity means to us. We've already raised $140 towards Lily's care, and that is in less than 24 hours. YOU ALL ROCK.If you're just now finding this story and want to hear the beginning OR make a donation, you can click here for more information.
I'd like to come up with some other ways to help Lily. If you have a suggestion of something that we can do, please let me know.
/Excuse me while I go cry my eyes out now.
Hey everyone, vval
here. Just wanted to let you guys know that Angie's mom texted me and said everything went okay. Angie is still in recovery but there shouldn't be a problem. Thought I'd let everyone one. =)
I've spoken with Robyn's sister, Hope. (Online and via text message). She said that any flower arrangements are fine, and theirs will be in blues, lavenders and whites.
I know that Robyn's favorite color was blue. And her mom's name is Shirley and she loves butterflies.
Hope is checking with her family about donations, because she wasn't sure how to respond to it.
I will probably send flowers to their house rather than the funeral home, just so they don't have to worry about carrying a lot of stuff back to the house. Unless told differently, I will probably also be making a donation of some kind to St. Jude's Hospital in Robyn's memory. I think she would have liked that.
Service will be Thursday, 8:00 for family only, 9:00 for friends and everyone. at Thibodaux Funeral Home on St Patrick Hwy. Service at 12:00. burial at Garden of Memories in Grey.
If anyone needs the mailing location of the Funeral Home, I will be looking that at up. I don't know if the family prefers flowers or a donation in Robyn's memory. If I find out more, I'll update with that.

Robyn's sister texted me about twenty minutes ago to let me know that Robyn passed away early this morning, peacefully in her sleep.
I'll update with funeral information if anyone wants to send flowers, etc. as soon as I become aware of it myself.
I just wanted to let you guys know that Robyn's sister texted me about two hours ago to let me know Robyn won't be able to text me anymore, and that they don't expect it's going to be much longer before she passes away.
I don't really know what else to say right now.
I texted Robyn this morning to see how she was doing. Unfortunately, the news isn't good.
She's in a lot of pain today, and she had to be hooked up to oxygen. She said her heart rate is really fast and her blood pressure is low.
As of right now, that's all I know.
I spoke with Robyn for about a half-hour tonight, and she asked me to give you guys an update. She is hanging in there, but her condition is worsening--she's been a great deal of pain, so they increased her pain meds again yesterday. She's also congested right now, which is making her uncomfortable. She's been spending a lot of time visiting with family that has been coming by, and she enjoys that.
She's thinking of all of you and wanted me to thank you for her, for all the emails and letters, etc. She really appreciates it and wishes she could respond to all of them, but she just can't. She has been reading all of them on her phone, though, and she enjoys hearing from you. We're going to talk again in a couple of days.
Do you keep a handwritten journal or diary, in addition to LJ?
No, but I have a secret LJ that's private.
I wear the cheese, it does not wear me.
If you DO have a handwritten journal or diary, what does it contain?
Day to day thoughts and observations
Dreams from the night before
Goals, hopes and dreams
Self-work (analzying your thoughts, feelings, etc)
Other (Will tell you in comments)
So Robyn is able to read email on her phone, so if any of you would like me to send her messages from you, I'd be more than happy to forward your comments onto her (and again, if you have friends who are friends of hers and aren't on my flist, they can comment on this entry if they want to pass anything along to her, or if they'd rather PM it to me, that's okay, too). Those of you who asked me to pass things on, I've already done so, but if you decide you want to say more, that's cool, too.
So a few weeks ago I purchased a Wii. I bought Wii fit for it, as well as Sims 3. Not terribly impressed with Sims 3, but maybe I'm just too used to playing the Sims on my computer. Anyway, for those of you who have Wii, what are your favorite games? Any ones you just can't get enough of?
Or just have a couple of spare bucks, 150 guinea pigs
were dropped off at a Southern California animal shelter on September 1st. A couple of small animal/guinea pig rescues have stepped in to help take care of them, but 150 guinea pigs is...a lot of piggies. :/ Many of them are sick, pregnant, and malnurished.
Speaking as someone who is currently owned by two guinea pigs herself, they do require a lot of care to keep them healthy and happy. Hopefully all of the piggies that were dumped will be okay and find happy forever homes.
You can donate here
, where the money will be divided up among the rescues helping, to assist in covering food, vet bills, bedding, etc.
Or you can donate directly to Wee Companions
or to Orange County Cavy Haven
(FYI, cavy is the scientific name for guinea pigs.) :)
